Nicki Minaj BET Awards 2014: Nicki Minaj's strange behavior has landed her in the headlines more than once, but the "Pills and Potions" singer was down to earth at the BET Awards 2014.

Nicki Minaj told the crowd at the BET Awards 2014 that she recently had a near death experience that showed her that she could be comfortable being herself.

While Nicki was accepting her fifth consecutive win for best female hip-hop artist, she opened up about her lyrics, industry credit and the support of Lil Wayne for his support, when she got as confessional as she does when singing.

"The other day, literally I didn't tell anybody this, I really thought I was about to die. Like, I was saying my prayers to die. And I didn't even want to call the ambulance because I thought, 'Well if I call the ambulance, it's going to be on TMZ,"' Nicki joked.

"And I would rather sit there and die," she added. "And it made me realize I don't care what anybody got to say. I'm going to do me."

Nicki Minaj killed it at the 2014 BET Awards in Los Angeles, Calif., and she did it in a natural look, hardly any makeup, certainly not the sometimes over-the-top look, but was just as beautiful as ever.
