Boardwalk Empire Season 5: HBO Releases Teaser Trailer To Remind Us `All Empires Fall’ [VIDEO]

Boardwalk Empire Season 5: Nucky Thompson wants to stay "alive long enough to cash out" before Boardwalk Empire finishes its final season.

In the latest teaser trailer from HBO, we learn almost nothing about what will befall the residents and gangsters of Atlantic City during the fifth and final season of Boardwalk Empire, which premieres this September. But we know that it's lonely at the top.

"All Empires Fall," says the new trailer and with the lonely shots of Steve Buscemi, it looks like the crash on Wall Street makes everything a gamble where the stakes are life and death.

'Boardwalk Empire enters its fifth and final season this fall. Producer Michael K. Williams recently revealed that there will be a drop in the glamor surrounding gangster life during season because it opens in the middle of the depression.

"The storyline has jumped seven years [into the future], which is why I have the beard now," Williams told Den of Geek "The Depression has set in. The days of the shiny shoes and fancy suits are long gone. It ended very badly for Chalky last year. "His family life is no more, and he is desperately seeking Dr. Narcisse to settle old scores."

Showrunner and creator Terence Winter, who wrote the screenplay to the Martin Scorsese/Leonardo Di Caprio hit "The Wolf Of Wall Street" said that the fall of Empires is a "big theme of the show, the whole idea of when is enough, enough?"

Boardwalk Empire stars Steve  Buscemi, Michael Shannon, Jeffrey Wright, Michael K. Williams, Michael Stuhlbarg and turned Michael Pitt into a star. The show broke Jack Huston a damaged WWI vet who becomes an assassin.
