‘Avengers Age of Ultron' Cast: Hulk Actor Mark Ruffalo Shoots Down 'Planet Hulk' Movie! Fans Clamor For Green Giant As Gladiator!

The "Avengers: Age of Ultron" cast will soon boast of another lead solo star in Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk solo movie is all but confirmed.

The actor has admitted that there were already talks on the concept level but nothing has been finalized yet. But there is one thing that they've already shot down and unfortunately, that is what the fans are all craving for!

Ruffalo talks to MTV about the possibility of doing a "Planet Hulk" movie.

Ruffalo shares his knowledge of the material: "They launch Bruce Banner into space to try to get rid of him and the Hulk. He ends up freaking out, smashing up the spaceship, and it goes off course and ends up on this planet of gladiator creatures. He falls in love, has a Hulk baby ... and then the Avengers nuke the planet."

MTV fills the gaps: "That's the long and short of it, with Ruffalo yadda-yadda-ing through some of the cooler details. And while it would make for a compelling film (indeed, "Planet Hulk" has already been the subject of an animated adaptation), there's just one problem: There's no Banner."

The "Begin Again" actor then shares: "I don't think ['Planet Hulk'] is the way to go yet. I think you need more Banner. The whole thing is just him as Hulk, on a planet, fighting other gladiators."

Exactly, Mr. Ruffalo. The Hulk fighting for survival as a gladiator, against huge, menacing aliens.

That was the point of why fans wanted it in the first place. They want to see the Hulk and unlimited smashing. The only caveat is that Ruffalo as Bruce Banner (meaning a regular person, not mo-cap CGI) will not be there.

It's also not the direction that Marvel, or for that matter, Josh Whedon is taking. Continuity is a priority for Marvel nowadays. The same continuity that they've demanded of director Edgar Wright, and it's rumored to be the cause of his departure from the project.

Continuity is Marvel's best asset at present but it can also be its downfall. As Screenrant user 'wade wilson' pointed out:

"Is there now an unwritten rule against SOLO non continuity movies from marvel?? How about make Planet Hulk for ohhh....I don't know...HULK FANS?

the technology is there, the fan base is there. make the standalone movie and give the HULK his big moment (properly that is).

just one fans(sic) opinion."

It's not just one fan, though.
