Elisabeth Hasselbeck Shocked Over The Shakeup at `The View'; Whoopie Goldberg Last `View'er Left Standing

Former "View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeckwas not expecting the news that Sherri Shepherd would be leaving the morning talk show.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck says she is shocked by news that Sherri Shepherd is leaving "The View." Last Thursday news broke that Shepherd and McCarthy had been fired, before it was up by a a Twitter feed.

It looks liek Sherri Sheperd is taking Jenny McCarthy with her. Hasselbeck left the morning show in 2013.  The major shakeup comes just month after creator Barbara Walters announced her retirement. Whoopi Goldberg is the last Viewer standing.

According to reports, Whoopi Goldberg is sad about the talk show shakeup, telling media "This old place used to seem a lot bigger. And, wait-didn't there used to be other people here? An older one, two blonde ones? Maybe some others? Ah, what am I saying. The quiet really does get to you."

After seven years on "The View," Sherri Shepherd announced she is leaving and co-host Jenny McCarthy, who's only been on for a year, said she's right behind her.
Hasselbeck stayed friendly with Shepherd since left The View last July, but said "I have not spoken to her in person yet. Set to happen, though."

Elisabeth Hasselbeck knows that events happen fast at The View, but says she was stunned by the news of Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy's departures on Thursday, June 26.

Speaking on her new gig, Fox & Friends, the former View co-host Hasselback admitted she didn't see it coming.

"I was shocked, in some ways. I'm sure. Even if you think that might happen one day, I'm sure it would come across to be a shock."

In a statement to the press. Shepherd said "It's been seven wonderful years on 'The View' and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and [executive producer] Bill Gedde for giving me the opportunity."

After just one year on the show, co-host Jenny McCarthy confirmed Thursday that she was also leaving "The View."

"If Sherri goes... I go too. #sisters," McCarthy. "My View will be chaining too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year."

An insider told the press that Shepherd was negotiating a new contract but couldn't reach an agreement with ABC.

ABC issued a general statement saying "'The View' will be moving in an exciting new direction next year, and ABC has made decisions to evolve the show creatively."
