2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: LeBron James Demands Max Contract! Big Problems For Miami As The King Now Wants To Get His Due! Can Heat Pay Up And Still Rebuild The Team?

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions take a steep turn as the Miami story takes a rocking twist. While LeBron James has mentioned that he wants to be paid his due, everyone expected him to soften his stance when he met with his Big Three cohorts. Apparently, that is not the case.

According to report from Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the King wants nothing less than max contract. He's not making any more sacrifices:

"Teams that contact James will be informed that he wants no less than the maximum salary number for next season, sources said. The max number is projected to be $22.2 million. In 2010, James accepted a pay cut when he signed with the Miami Heat, taking less than the maximum salary to help make space for other free agents.

As of now, James is not scheduling any pitch meetings with teams; he will let agent Rich Paul handle the opening stages of talks. In 2010, James scheduled six meetings with teams at his offices in Cleveland over the first three days of July.

James' demand for the length of his next deal is in flux. After the Finals, James said flexibility was important to him, hinting that he may not be looking for a full four- or five-year contract."

One key point here is his complete deference to agent Rich Paul. In 2010, LeBron's contract (as well as the other Big Three members) was negotiated by CAA (Creative Artists Agency). Now, LeBron has his own agent and this is the first time he gets commission from his top client. Money becomes the top priority.

Of course, winning is important to LeBron and there will be teams that can offer both scenarios. The big problem for the Heat is that James is convinced that their team as currently constructed will not be enough to win a championship. He's correct, after their massacre at the hands of the Spurs.

If he takes a max contract, as he reiterated that he will, Miami will have nothing in the coffers to offer even if Bosh and Wade take pay cuts.

However, this also takes out other hopeful teams that want to lure James with the condition to take less money. The Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and LA Clippers would not be able to clear that amount.
