2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Vince Carter Has Five Teams As Suitors! 'Half-Man Half-Amazing' Reinvents His Game To Be A Solid Contributor! Will He Return To The Raptors Where It All Star

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions are all around the league, not just for the big names but also for the grizzled veterans who can still contribute.

Vince Carter, once known as "half-man, half-amazing" for his dunking prowess, was almost forced into retirement until he got a career resurgence in Dallas.

He's actually one of the biggest bargains in the league with his 3 year, $ 9.3 million deal.

ESPN points out: "Carter, who averaged 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 24.4 minutes per game last season, would be an asset to any contender after proving the last two seasons that he could excel as a sixth man and embrace a role as a leader of the bench. Carter, ranked 25th on the NBA's all-time scoring list, the rare reserve who is a threat as a creator and shoots well enough (39.4 percent from 3-point range last season) to space the floor for his team's top scorers."

The Mavericks hope to retain Carter, but their attempt would not be as easy as the last time. Reports have the Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trail Blazers and Vince Carter's original team, the Toronto Raptors have expressed interest in the 37 year old.

No less than 2013 Rookie of the Year Damian Lillard  has Carter on his wish list. The hero of the Blazers vs. Houston series believes that Carter would boost their chances. From CSN Northwest:

"'Channing Frye, Vince Carter, Spencer Hawes, Trevor Ariza,' read Lillard's text in that order."

The feeling is apparently mutual: "Carter is 'open' to the idea of coming to Portland and helping boost the bench up, we're told by someone close to the veteran guard."

But the most dramatic move for Carter would be to sign with the Raptors and finish his career right where it started. "Air Canada" as Vince was once called put the Raptors on the NBA spotlight. But they did not part in good terms. Marc Stein of ESPN reports that the Raptor ownership is willing to put that behind them. Will the fans agree?:

"I suppose this is where some Raptors diehards are going to follow up by berating me with loud claims that Vince would never be welcomed back north of the border after the circumstances surrounding his departure in 2004. But I ain't buyin' it. I've never bought that. Trying to sign him now, as a veteran sage on a young team, is precisely the sort of splash we know new Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment president Tim Leiweke loves to make."
