Upcoming Samsung Phones 2014: This China Mobile Exclusive Handset Is Entry Level On The Surface, But Boasts Midrange Specs

As if the Korean manufacturer is running out of Android phones to launch, the company has once again added one of its upcoming Samsung phones for 2014, and this time it would only be available in China, for now.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Korean tech giant has just unveiled the Galaxy Core Mini 4G, which is currently exclusively available via local carrier China Mobile.

The handset will be powered by a 4.3-inch display with 800 x 480 pixels, a quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU running at 1.2GHz, a Snapdragon 200 chipset, and 8GB of internal memory.

But if you think the Galaxy Core Mini 4G is strictly within the entry-level division, you will definitely be surprised to know that the Android handset comes with 1.5GB of RAM. Most phones with the initial specs mentioned should get either 512MB or 1GB of RAM. The Core Mini 4G gets a half of that higher, which puts it at the top of the midrange market in terms of RAM amount.

The extra RAM should be attributed to the phone's 4G LTE connectivity, which China Mobile provides all over China.

Other specs of the device include a single SIM slot, a microSD card slot, a 5MP primary camera that can shoot 720p videos, and Android 4.4 Kit Kat out of the box.

Sadly, there is no front camera so selfies would be limited with this device.

According to the report, the phone will be exclusively offered by China Mobile in China, but details about pricing and the exact release date were not yet revealed.

Samsung has been doing well in its flagship smartphones, especially the Galaxy S5. The 'supporting cast' is also nearly complete which is composed of the Galaxy K Zoom, Galaxy S5 Active, and the Galaxy S5 mini. The only missing piece is the next generation Galaxy Note phablet which could be unveiled in September.
