Los Angeles Lakers First Round Pick Julius Randle Could Be The Missing Piece To Playoff Contention

After the NBA Draft 2014 last week, a lot of people, especially Los Angeles Lakers fans asked who Julius Randle is.

Well, he may just be the missing piece for a proud LA squad to enter the Playoffs once more.

During his introductory press conference, Randle mentioned that he will 'reach his full potential' with the Lakers, and hopefully help the team 'get back to winnning'.

The 19-year-old came from a fresh stint with Kentucky, and even in his single season with the team, he has already earned the respect of his teammates and the coaching staff.

That experience will certainly come into play when he officially wears the purple and gold uniform in his first NBA game in September. But before suiting up for the team, the rookie will first play with the Lakers' NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

During the event, the Lakers' general manager Mitch Kupchak together with Jim Buss welcomed Randle to the finally. However, in the report by Bleacher Report, it is the statement of Kupchack which provided a lot of promise for the 19-year-old rookie.

Kupchak said that Randle is "younger than most players who come into the NBA." And in order to be a major piece in the Lakers' system, he would have to earn it.

"He's going to earn it. That's what he did at Kentucky."

The Los Angeles Lakers suffered for the entire season last season, and failed to enter the Playoffs for the first time since 2005, and the second in the last two decades. With a 27-55 win-loss record for the NBA 2013-14 season, the Lakers really need a sparkplug that can blend well with ageing superstars Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Pau Gasol, and a few young talents.

Hopefully, Randle will be the answer to LA's prayers, and the key to a 17th NBA title.
