iOS 7.1.2 Update Released Via OTA And iTunes! Apple's Mobile Firmware Upgrade Improves iBeacon And Fixes Email Attachment Encryption Issues

The iOS 7.1.2 update is now available!

Apple released the long-awaited iOS 7.1.2 update yesterday, June 30. As expected, the iOS 7.1.2 update provides fixes for the email attachment encryption issues experienced by Apple users from the previous version, the iOS 7.1.1.

Particularly, the Apple support page listed the bug fixes included in the iOS 7.1.2 update. Check it out beow:

Improves iBeacon connectivity and stability

Fixes a bug with data transfer for some 3rd party accessories, including bar code scanners

Corrects an issue with data protection class of Mail attachments

As specified on Ars Tecnica, the iOS 7.1.2 update is compatible with the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S. iOS 7.1.2 update also supports the iPad 2, iPad with Retina display, iPad Minis, iPad Air and the 5th gen iPod Touch.

The iOS 7.1.2 update can be accessed via the over-the-air upgrade process. To do so, go to Settings > General > Software update and then choose the Download and Install option.

Alternatively, Apple mobile device users can download the iOS 7.1.2 update through iTunes.

As noted on Apple Insider, it has not been clarified yet whether Apple will release more maintenance update for the current version of iOS, at least before the arrival of the next iteration of the mobile OS - the iOS 8. Previous reports speculate that the iOS 7.1.2. update would be the final minor update before the official and final version of iOS 8 is launched by Apple.

The iOS 8 is expected to be available at some point this fall 2014, alongside the new generation of iPhone.
