Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Release Date Is Today, Midranger Specs Incl. 4.5" HD Display, Gets Heart Rate Monitor, Fingerprint Sensor, Water And Dust Resistance

After waiting for a few months, Samsung has finally unveiled the last of its three Galaxy S5 versions (the first two being the Galaxy K Zoom and the Galaxy S5 Active) at its Samsung Galaxy S5 mini release date earlier today.

The Korean tech giant did not set up a prestigious event, though we all know that the Galaxy S5 mini will play a major role for Samsung as it tries to lure in Android consumers who cannot afford its current flagship device.

According to the report by GSM Arena, it looks like most of the rumored specs and details of the Galaxy S5 mini are spot on.

The Android-powered handset packs a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, a quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU running at 1.4GHz, and a 1.5GB of RAM. Unfortunately, the chipset brand is not yet specified by Samsung, but we sure hope it would be a Snapdragon 400 or higher.

Other specs of the handset include a 16GB internal memory with microSD card slot, a capable 2,100mAh battery, LTE connectivity, and an IR blaster.

In the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini gets an 8-megapixel primary shooter that can shoot 1080p clips at 30fps, while in front lies the 2.1MP camera for selfies.

Like previous rumors, the Galaxy S5 mini gets most, if not all of the features from its bigger sibling which include a fingerprint scanner at the phone's home button, a heart rate monitor at the back, S Health, Kids mode, water and dust resistance, and an Ultra Power Saving mode. The phone runs on Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box.

The Galaxy S5 mini looks exactly like the Galaxy S5 in terms of design, so fans of the bigger phone but cannot afford it can look forward to the official release of the S5 mini. In the report, the Galaxy S5 mini would be available in Russia beginning this month, though pricing details are not yet available.
