Nicki Minaj's Latest Beef With Iggy Azalea; Is Minaj Just An Insecure Bully?

Nicki Minaj is revamping her bully reputation again by allegedly calling out Iggy Azalea for not writing her own lyrics. "My point is, what I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is, that when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it," the 31-year-old rapper said to the BET Awards crowd on Sunday.

Minaj was reportedly dissing "Fancy" rapper Azalea in the speech. But this is not the first time that the "Pills N Potion" singer has started beef with other female superstars giving her somewhat of a bully reputation, according to Molly Lambert of Grantland. What does her history of starting beef say about her own sense of security?

With Minaj's newest album The Pink Print dropping soon, it begs to question if she is throwing Azalea under the bus to create more buzz around her album while also undermining the success Azalea has seen lately. Minaj has also recently dropped her Barbie-like looks, similar to what Azalea has been rocking lately, in exchange for a more natural look.

"You get the feeling she prefers having the lane all to herself," said Lambert. "There's a horrible tendency to pit women against one another at the exclusion of all the men in that field, most of whom Nicki is easily better than, too."

This most recent call out with Azalea is not the first feud Minaj has instigated.  Minaj had beef with Mariah Carey during her season 12 run on American Idol. Though the beef was ignited by differences in opinion of the contestants' talent, it got to a personal level very quickly. Minaj tweeted that Carey was "insecure" and "bitter," and the feud received a lot of attention in the media and online.

Additionally, Minaj has famously had a beef with rapper Lil Kim previously.

According to Troy L. Smith of the Cleveland Plains Dealer, Minaj may be lashing out due to insecurity about her much less popular single compared to Azaela's. "However, while Minaj hyped the heck out of 'Pills n Potions,' the song has yet to catch on. She might be better served focusing on the music for her upcoming album, 'The Pink Print,' than taking aim at other artists (who are higher on the charts)."
