Mary Morstan Death In Sherlock Season 4: Martin Freeman Reveals Potential Spoilers Before Premiere Release Date And Christmas Special [PHOTO]

Martin Freeman recently spoke to the Telegraph and revealed some big news. First Freeman hinted at a Christmas special and then added that Watson's wife, Mary Morstan, will likely die in the upcoming season.

Freeman first noted that the "Sherlock" season 4 will not air before Christmas 2015. Freeman, who plays Dr Watson, and his co-star, Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Sherlock, are so in demand that they cannot find time to  work on the show until next year. The BBC generally to keep all announcements about Sherlock shrouded in secrecy, but Freeman let slip a few spoilers about the death of Watson's onscreen wife Mary Morstan, played by Martin Freeman's real world wife, Amanda Abbington.

"While we play fast and loose with the original stories, we generally follow the trajectory of what Conan Doyle did. So he [Watson] gets married, and then Mary Morstan dies - so at some point presumably she'll die," Freeman said.

When speaking to the Telegraph about the Sherlock Season 4, he said that filming would likely begin in early 2015. Martin Freeman went on to say, "If that's going to be a special - I'm speaking off-message here; if this was New Labour I'd get fired - I think that might be for next Christmas. A Christmas special. That's what I understand."

Both Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have busy schedules until 2015. Both the actors will have roles in the third and final "Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies." Cumberbatch will also be playingmathematician Alan Turing in the "The Imitation Game."

Due to stars' busy filming schedules there has been no official scheduling announcement pertaining to "Sherlock" Season 4.
