'X-Men Apocalypse' Director Is Still Bryan Singer? 'Days Of Future Past' Helmsman Teases Script On Instagram! Film Is Dubbed As 'Extinction Level Disaster!

'The controversy surrounding Bryan Singer and his sexual abuse cases were rumored to have had him fired from directing the next X-Men film, "X-Men: Apocalypse." However, that rumor was debunked by the director himself.

The supposed 'firing' was mentioned by Radar Online, but they point out that it's not because of his sexual abuse cases:

"'They don't really care whether he's innocent or guilty - they're only concerned with the bottom line, which is giving him another $250 to $350 million to make Apocalypse. There have been talks about who else he'd let direct it, with him producing, but those led to heated arguments and walk outs,' the source revealed."

However that bubble seems to have been burst, as the director teased the script on his Instagram account:

Which is just as well because they would not Singer's vision to portray an 'extinction level' type disaster.

Writer Simon Kinberg shared on Collider:

"The thing that we've spent the most time talking about is not just the visual execution of the character, which is its own challenge - creating a character that's the most powerful I think of any mutant villain that we've seen in the X-Men movies so far. More powerful than Magneto. The kind of scope and scale we're talking about is like disaster movie, extinction level event. Sort of Roland Emmerich-style moviemaking, which you've never seen in an X-Men movie, or any superhero movie, which I think is exciting.

But we've also been talking about how to give him a real emotional and philosophical underpinning. So he's not just somebody who's out there destroying the world because he can. What he's doing is - in his mind - justified and validated by a real compelling, coherent philosophy. He tries to proselytise and convert people - maybe some of our most familiar characters - to come to his cause."

Singer is the perfect director for that type of movie, It's easy for the viewers to get caught up in the visuals and the fight scenes, but Singer is able to keep the central philosophy of the characters in the film. It is all the more important for a character like Apocalypse lest he be dismissed as just a powerful mutant monster. In the first page of the script, it seems to allude to Apocalypse's origin story--which is very important as it will shape the actions of Apocalypse for the next millenium.

"X-men: Age of Apocalypse" will be released on May 27, 2016.
