iPad Mini 3 Release Date: 4 Things We Know About Apple's Upcoming 'Mini' Slate

Apple's WWDC event has come and gone, but we know the iPad mini 3 release date will soon be announced, following the Cupertino giant's usual schedule for its devices.

If you are already excited what the future holds for the next generation iPad mini Retina, then here are four things you need to know.

1. Good old design, new additions

While we do not expect anything drastic when it comes to the iPad mini Retina's design, there may be a few changes, notably in the home button department. Previous rumors claim that Apple's new iPads will get Touch ID as well following the first act of the iPhone 5s a year ago.

2. Sapphire display

While more rumors are pointing to a sapphire display for the iPhone 6, there is also a possibility that the 3rd generation iPad mini would get a change of material for its screen as well given that it is already a couple of inches bigger.

3. Faster chipset

Like previous Apple devices, there will certainly be an improvement in specs particularly in the chipset department. While we haven't heard about an A8 chip just yet, it is almost certain it will arrive to the iPad mini Retina 2, iPad Air 2 and the iPhone 6.

4. Better iOS 8

During the WWDC we were introduced to the new version of iOS, and we are already looking forward to experience in with a new Apple device. Fortunately, we just have to wait a couple more months before we finally see how it functions in an iPhone 6 or iPad mini Retina.

It is only a few months away before Apple unveils the iPhone 6. While the iPads often do not come later than October, the Cupertino manufacturer could be announcing the devices all at once.

Still, we just have to wait for the official announcement coming from Apple.
