Los Angeles Clippers News: 'Lob City' Interested In Signing Paul Pierce

After all of the disappointing Los Angeles Clippers news in the past month, at least there is a glimpse of hope for the franchise as it seeks to rebuild in the short term for a quick shot at the Western Conference title, and eventually the NBA championship.

And who would be the missing piece to this disoriented Clippers? None other than Truth personified - Paul Pierce.

The 36-year-old All Star may already be approaching the dusk of his NBA career, but he still has something left in his tank. Last season, Pierce averaged 13.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists in his first year in Brooklyn and together with Kevin Garnett did their best to push the Nets back in the Playoffs.

Unfortunately, the Nets were eliminated early in the Playoffs, and recent news say that the team is already looking for replacements for Jason Kidd for the coaching position.

With all these things going on, Pierce could be looking for greener pastures, though that won't be Boston.

In the report by Bleacher Report, the Los Angeles Clippers are planning to get Pierce so that he can reunite with long-time mentor and coach Doc Rivers.

While the Clippers are on-paper a solid squad, inconsistency for some of its key players have plagued the team for the past couple of years. Even with All-Star point guard Chris Paul running the offense, the Clips have only managed a Western Conference semis appearance at most.

Inserting Pierce to the offense would be easy and an instant offense boost to the Clippers' secondary lineup. But given the performance of The Truth in his first games, he could become a starter right away.

However, there are issues which Pierce should take care first, especially concerning his teammate Garnett. In the report, if KG decides to play on with the Nets, then Pierce could stick with him until the end.

It is also not good news for L.A. that there are other teams in pursuit of Pierce's veteran play and reliable offense. The Blazers, Bulls, Grizzlies, Mavericks and the Rockets are reportedly interested in getting Pierce as well.
