BIGBANG rapper T.O.P has issued a public apology to his fans following the drug controversy he is currently involved in. The YG artist shared a handwritten apology which states his feelings of remorse and embarrassment over the issue.
According to All Kpop, BIGBANG's T.O.P. uploaded his personally handwritten letter bearing his thoughts on the issue. While apologizing for causing damage to the label, his fellow BIGBANG members, the fans and his family, T.O.P. expressed disappointment in himself for being the cause of such trouble for the people he cared about.
"I believe I should be rightly punished for hurting the members, the label, the public, the fans who cherished me, and my family in a way that cannot be fixed," BIGBANG's T.O.P said in his letter. "My heart hurts, and I am very disappointed in myself."
T.O.P. in his statement acknowledged that what he did was irresponsible even as he admitted that he was too embarrassed in himself for making such a mistake. Even though he has expressed that he is ready to accept punishment or his actions, he did admit to feeling fear about what will happen to him with the investigation.
While early reports have speculated that T.O.P. may be penalized with a jail term along with a hefty fine of 50 million won, VIPs, the official fandom of BIG BANG has done their due diligence on drug cases and believes that T.O.P. will be spared from jail time since it was his first offense.
Fans believe that T.O.P. will not escape punishment but this may come in the form of one to two years of probation and maybe a fine. Standard laws in South Korea for purchasing and selling drugs involve a jail term of five years and a fine but there has not yet been proof that T.O.P. personally acquired the marijuana from a supplier which may also be a factor in the case. Unless a final verdict is reached, T.O.P will continue serving as a member of the band unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
